Thursday, November 11, 4. The article "Rewired" by Larry Rosen, Ph. I believe this can be acoomplished and I agree with Dr.
Larry Rosen, that this idea can be a new way to learn and educate our students. The article "Rewired" by Dr. However this can be a problem because students spend too much time on a computer or "plugged in" already and can lead to health issues, such as obesity because lack of excercise.
Another point in the article is that the work can be done in cycles. Students can do their work for a certain amount of time and go back to their social life and then back to homework until it gets finished. Kids already spend enough hours connected to friends through these social networks that this became their life and we have to incorporate the work and the internet fun, so everyone wins.
I can relate to the article because I spend plenty of hours on a computer. When I got my own laptop, I hardly even got off because I was addicted to the websites such as espn, youtube and facebook. I found homework to be a nuisance to do. I sometimes lost because I sat on a computer chair commenting other peoples status' or looking sneaker release dates.
Since I was doing poorly in school I had to alternate between school work and social life because I didnt want to failout. Just like what Dr. I would do one or two homeworks, then play xbox or surf the web, and then finish up the homework and go back to playing games until I fell asleep.
The "cycle" worked for me because I got to play games and homework was done, so my grades were picking up, everyone was happy at the end. The use of the social networks that Dr.
Larry talks about can be used in a positive way as well. Kids can exchange information and share ideas, for a better understanding, makes the work interesting and gives them a motivational push to get them to do their work.
That is another I can agree with because when I was stuck on a assignment, it became a nuisance and then I would start losing interest and eventually quit.
